- Description: After five years of writing this every Wednesday, there is a book. One page for every morning of the year, out today.

Since January 2022, I have written to you on Wednesdays. This is the two hundred and fiftieth. And today, there is a book.

**Already Ready is out.** Fifty-two weeks of mornings, one reading for each, including Saturdays and Sundays. The ebook, the paperback and the daily reader app, with today’s reading on your phone each morning, are all on one page, with the price for your country:

Bought it? Let me know, and I’ll send you a small extra: *The First Monday*, a short guide to reading a book like this without it turning into one more habit to keep up. You can read the book perfectly well without it.

## Two hundred and fifty Wednesdays

The first one was a list of five books to start the year with.

It started because I kept having the same conversations. With my team, with people I coach, often enough with myself. Different names, different weeks, the same handful of subjects coming round again. At some point it stopped making sense to say it one person at a time, so I began writing it down on a Wednesday.

For most of those Wednesdays, I have been making one argument, and it is where I start from. You already know what to do. You are not broken, you don’t need fixing, and there is nothing you are missing. Most of the time, you just don’t do it. Stop preparing and start.

I still stand behind it. What I have generally left out is that it was never aimed only at you.

## Why I kept going

Because of what comes back. Every so often somebody replies, convinced that a piece is about them. Now and then they are not pleased about it. It never is about them, although it is almost always because of somebody. That is the part I find interesting: the thing you took for your own private failing turns out to be fairly common property.

More often it is the other kind. That was useful. I used it in a conversation on Thursday. Do you have anything about this other thing? People take it somewhere and put it to work, which is more than I expected when I started.

And it works on me too. Plenty of these are a memo to myself before they are anything else. Having to write something down for other people makes you think about it longer than you otherwise would, and I have changed my mind more than once between the first line and the last.

## What happens once you have counted

The trouble with counting something is that you start doing sums with it. Two hundred and fifty is a lot of pieces. A year is three hundred and sixty-five mornings. Not a book yet, then, but close enough to see that it could be one.

And then you get to the weekends. What do you put on a Saturday? Something else, probably. Maybe nothing about work at all.

That is an odd problem to enjoy having, and I enjoyed having it. Some things are worth doing because they are new, or difficult, or because you would quite like to be someone who has done them. This was all three, which is as good a reason as any. So I wrote the rest of the mornings, and made a book out of them.

Maybe fifty people buy it. That is a real possibility, and I have made my peace with it, because fifty is not a small number when you say it slowly. Fifty people who get something out of it on an ordinary morning is the whole point. Anything above that is a bonus I didn’t plan for.

## How to get it

Everything is on one page, with the price for your country. In a lot of places that is lower than you would expect:

What you will find there:

- **The ebook.** EPUB and PDF, DRM-free and yours to keep. From me, or the EPUB on its own from Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play, Bol or Amazon.
- **The daily reader app.** An app on your phone for the book. You open it in the morning and today’s reading is there. You add it to your home screen straight from the web page, no app store needed. It only exists here, from me.
- **The bundle.** The ebook and the daily reader app together, the cheapest way to have both.
- **The paperback.** Always on its own. 448 pages, six by nine inches, printed when you order it. Any bookshop can order it with the ISBN, 978-90-9042981-6, and I would rather they did. Online works too. This is the one I would pick, because a book you open every morning wants a pencil.

Buying the ebook, the app or the bundle straight from me? DIRECT20 takes twenty percent off.

If a page gets you, write and tell me. Not because it helps sales, but because I like hearing it. People writing back is what has kept me at this for five years, and I would like to know whether the book does the same thing the Wednesdays did.

If you want it and the price is awkward right now, say so. Send me a message, and we will work something out. You do not owe me an explanation. The same goes for a stack of paperbacks for your team or your department: get in touch, and we will figure it out.

And one favour. If it does something for you, leave a review wherever you bought it. Amazon, Kobo, Apple - they all count. Reviews in the first weeks are oxygen for a book like this, and five honest sentences beat five stars. Bought direct, with no review box? Tell one person who would get it. That does the same work.
